Hi Geoff,

I assume that by lighting up you actually mean the backlight lights but
there is nothing on the display.

Many thanks

Hi John , thanks for your reply. This is a tough one----the QX1 is in England , i'm in Australia (ebay sale) .The purchaser stated that the backlight lights up but no data displayed and that the disc drive is turning (making noises). Prior to selling it was working , but maybe the trip to the UK was a little rough. I shipped it with the disc installed.
I,m keen to help the purchaser and any suggestion are greatly appreciated.
Regards
Geoff

Hi Geoff,

maybe you should suggest the purchaser to join this group; it will ease troubleshooting and follow up.

RE: [vintagesynthrepair] Re: Yamaha QX1

Hi , thanks John and Francois ,i'll get in touch with the buyer and let him know about this group. Today i googled Yahoo group TX816 and got some info.
There was a reference to how to fix the disc drive , and it seemed to nail the problem ---i hope. I'll pass this on to the buyer.
The QX1 may have suffered in transit----i've always believed that some things can be nuclear proof , but nothing is courier proof.
Thanks again for your help.

RE: [vintagesynthrepair] Re: Yamaha QX1

2013-02-25 by John Rose

I am well aware of the shipping problem, I recently had a TX816 rack unit shipped over from the US and despite being really well packed they managed to bend it quite substantially in transit, I am in the middle of trying to sort it all out at the moment, unfortunately it means I am going to have to try and find another in order to hopefully make up a good one, fortunately I still have the one I have had from new.

Many thanks
