Roland XP-80 Display Issue

2015-02-16 by Samuel Adams

I'm about to acquire a Roland XP-80. The board is in decent condition however the lcd display is fading. Is there an easy way for a non-techie to remedy this? Thanks in advance.

I suspect it’s the same problem as others in the series.

A surface mount capacitor fails, and a voltage that controls the contrast fades with it.

Not for a rookie but if you have some experience with component level repair then it can be done easy enough.

With kind regards,
