0.5 Hz to 10 Khz is around 15 octaves. A one volt per octave input doesn't have enough range. There is some part of the range that should be near to 0.6 volts per octave. The EXTernal RATE control has an attenuator so you can attenuate the 1 volt per octave keyboard signal down to 0.6 volts per octave. Some part of the range should track a keyboard for an octave or so. It never occured to me that anyone would want to, so I never tested it. Try it and let us know how it works.
