well, lad.....I'LL give you OT!!!!!! 8] (manic grin bordering on a grimace) (for reference among those among you who don't know me personally, my given name is Michael E. Murphy) I'm sorry to report that the Holy See in Rome is STILL considering the removal of the feast of the legendary Bishop of Armagh (St. P.) from the canonical calendar. It gives me some comfort and more than a bit of smug gratification that the image of: A horde of enraged, chapel-veiled, shillelagh-wielding, crones swarming across the Irish sea and the channel , stepping on the petrified skeletons of drowned snakes, using one-another's bodies as a living bridge like army ants on a relentless march to Rome, where they would pummel that sinister Kraut in St. Peter's chair into a small greasy spot on the bloodstained Medici carpetsÂ…. ...still gives them cause for caution in the Vatican. =) It seems that they didn't keep very good records in 500ad and there's some question as to whether Patrick was ever processed through the whole beatification rigmarole or not. If nothing else it's testament to the Irish contempt and disdain for formal procedure! ;) As for the patronage of engineers, that ascription wasn't recorded until the first millennium, 500 years after Patrick died. He has been ascribed to the plight of `excluded people' for much longer. Maybe they decided to designate engineers in particular when they got a look at the hapless members of this new profession trying to pick up chicks at the jousting matches! eire go brach -`doc' PS: hey Dave! 'pbr' is pabst blue ribbon just one of the beers that made Milwaukee famous!
