Hi everyone -- sorry for the cross-post, This is a Bay Area-specific message. I'm playing this Wednesday, 9/28 with German trumpeter Birgit Ulher and resynthesist Matt Wright at CNMAT (Center for New Music and Audio Technologies), located at 1750 Arch St, Berkeley. (A famous address for the Buchla fan!) On Sunday, October 2nd, Birgit and I will have our CD release performance at the Maybeck Recital Hall in Berkeley. (see address below) The CD, "Sputter," features my Blacet/Wiard/ Metalbox modular and percussion. (Oh, and my frac-racked Plan B Model 15 oscillator will get its live debut!) For both shows, I'll be playing my analog synth and percussion. The music will be improvised. Here are the details: Wednesday, Sept. 28: CNMAT in Berkeley, CA Matt Wright (live electronics), Birgit Ulher (trumpet), and Gino Robair (perc/synth). The trio will test the waters between lowercase sound and uppercase noise in a surround-sound setting with Wright doing live resampling. Wright uses custom software to transform and atomize live and recorded sounds in real time, while moving the particles around the room. CNMAT is an intimate space with 8 loudspeakers encircling the audience. Imagine a storm of small, tuneful meteors raining down around you -- that's one of many areas the music will visit. Time: 8 pm Admission: $8 - $12 CNMAT is at 1750 Arch Street in Berkeley Sunday Oct 2, Maybeck Recital Hall in Berkeley, CA A special CD release party for "Sputter" by Birgit Ulher and Gino Robair. Using trumpet, percussion, and analog synthesizer, the duo creates glistening pools of sound from an assortment of pops, burbles, fizzles, and clatterings. The concert will take place in one of Berkeley's finest rooms. Seating is limited to 30 people, and you can reserve one in advance by sending a note to gino@rastascan.com. The show is at 8 pm. A donation between $8-12 at the door will get you a copy of the new CD. The Maybeck Recital Hall is located at 1537 Euclid (corner of Buena Vista) in Berkeley.
