i'm trying to get my head around what would be needed to make the led's on the JAG go round and round in circles. i tried 2 blacet lfo's but couldn't get the result i wanted. is a quadrature oscillator what would be needed? tia for any answers to my pointless question, gregg.

Yes, or if you have an envelator or similar module, you can cycle it, and take the env out to the X and the inverted env to the Y input of the JAG. Works great for flying stuff around in quad and surround or just for the pretty light show... bryan

thanks bryan! i'll try it out again with the two 180 degrees out of phase blacet micro lfo triangle waves, and the blacet eg (which has an inverted out), and report back later! gregg --- In wiardgroup@yahoogroups.com, Bryan Carrigan <bryancarrigan@m...> wrote:

Mike Firman wrote a nice program for the PSIM which produces the quadrature trapezoid waves that are ideal for driving the JAG. IIRC Brice took down all the files from the PSIM Yahoo list, but perhaps Mike would post his file to this list since it is very relevant. And the quad morph outs of the Cyndustries ZO in low (LFO) mode would work. You could make it really crazy by engaging the linear FM, too. Hmmmm. Maybe it's time I invest in a JAG... Mike --- In wiardgroup@yahoogroups.com, "mrboningen" <darkflametwentythree@h...> wrote:

thanks for all the comments. i tried it again with the blacet lfo's (using the 180 degree out of phase dc outs, and using a blacet mixer/processor on the sine wave to get 180 dgree out of phase ac sine waves), and the blacet envelope'S dual outs. but i got the same reults as last time: with the jag switch in one position you get the lights coming on backwards and forwards only around HALF of the circle, and with the switch in the other position you get two lots of lights coming on opposite each other and spreading out around the circle and back again. hm, difficult to describe but easy to see! i was just wondering if it was possible to get one light on at a time going around and around in circles, seems not... i would also be very very interested in mr. firman's PSIM program, as hopefully mine will arrive soon (it's been a two year wait!!!) best wishes, gregg

You need quadrature trapezoid waves. That is waves 90 degrees apart. This is not easy to do, except with a PSIM. --- In wiardgroup@yahoogroups.com, "mrboningen" <darkflametwentythree@h...> wrote:

I'll have to boot up my evil Windows NT box and pull it off, but I'll post the PSIM program to do the spinning JAG lights (oh, and it will also allow you to do quad panning if you have four linear VCAs and a quad set up. You can make yourself dizzy with it). --- In wiardgroup@yahoogroups.com, "Grant Richter" <grichter@a...> wrote: > > You need quadrature trapezoid waves. > > That is waves 90 degrees apart. > > This is not easy to do, except with a PSIM. > > --- In wiardgroup@yahoogroups.com, "mrboningen" <darkflametwentythree@h...> wrote:

thanks mike and grant! i have 4 linear vca's, a jag and a joystick, but only 2 speakers :( maybe time to invest in 2 more! my mind reels at the possibility of flying stuff round and round in 4 dimensions with a joystick or lfos, from sub audio to audio rates!!! gregg --- In wiardgroup@yahoogroups.com, "Michael A. If so, you can avoid the pitfals of software with an electric motor and it helps if you still have pieces from your old erector set, and a rheostat.... it's a decidedly old school solution, from an old school kinda guy, but you won't have to worry about serial port lock-ups! ='] (ok..ok.... i guess that IS my tongue in my cheek.... i reckon i better shut up before it gets replaced by my foot (or Greggs foot!) over & out -doc

ha ha! but would it be able to spin at audio frequencies? best wishes, gregg. --- In wiardgroup@yahoogroups.com, "drmabuce" <drmabuce@y...> wrote:

Hi Gregg --- In wiardgroup@yahoogroups.com, "mrboningen" > ha ha! but would it be able to spin at audio frequencies? EASY!!!!! shoot! even salvaged PC cooling fan motors will go that fast! Just boost the amperage to get the extra torqure required .... uh ... and it'd probably be a good idea to have some WD40 on hand for the joystick... (oh) and uh,,,, probably best to keep your fingers clear when you're running it at those RPM hmmmmmmm i still have some of MY old erector set parts.... >=] IGOR! you bungling ibecile, where is my labcoat??!!!!! -doc
