Cubase has had some issues with the stability of it's midi clock since SX 
came out.  Do a search on the Steinberg.net site for "emulated midi ports" 
and you'll find a whole bunch of information that might help you out here.

feels like the only order that the XX7 accepts from Cubase is start/stop, 
once that XX7 runs it feels like the clocks of XX7 and Cubase run on their 

own, there is no exact sync, could that be like this?
