It really depends what you are trying to do. The mute/trigger buttons can do several things based on your set up. However, if you are trying to turn E-Mu tracks on and off remotely from your software sequencer, I don't think you can do that on a one-to-one basic. If you have single channel data on separate tracks (track one only has midi data on channel 10 and no other track has data on channel 10, for example), you could mute that track by setting channel 10 volume to 0.
