Recommendation based on my own experience: the Rubbermaid (and other) Tuff-Tote type plastic molded cases + some good foam. Get the "hardware grade" type that you find in places like Home Depot - they have a reinforced double layer lid - super tough sculpted-molded body. I have used this type of case for sensitive electronics many times including flights all over Europe and the US - never a problem - the cases cost about $20, and if for some reason your gear does not fit as expected - you can return it locally. The 2 that I have here hold the XL-7 perfectly - with about 3" on either side which I stuff with modular blocks of 3" high quality rigid case-foam. I also put blocks of the foam above and below the XL7, and there is room on the bottom for wires, etc.
