Suggested Carrying Cases?

Suggested Carrying Cases?

2004-10-10 by allenscheer2003

I often need to transport my MP7 for short car trips, etc.

Presently I have neither the shipping box nor any other decent means
of protecting the MP7 while in transit.

I'd like to get something off-the-shelf from some company like
Pelican or other companies which manufacture similar hard-shell
plastic cases.

Any model suggestions? I am wary of ordering based on measurements,
as this has always led to mismatches in the past.

TIA

i understand your wariness about ordering based on measurements, but i got a great case
that way. someone on this forum recommended Modern Case, as he had gotten a custom
case for his XX-7 from them. 1 1/2 years ago, i ordered one myself - they still had his
template for the case dimensions. i flew to europe and back with this case, and my XL-7
came through fine. highly recommended. i think their URL is moderncase.com, but you'll
have to search to make sure. it took about a monht and a half and cost just over $100.

good luck

Recommendation based on my own experience: the Rubbermaid (and other)
Tuff-Tote type plastic molded cases + some good foam. Get the
"hardware grade" type that you find in places like Home Depot - they
have a reinforced double layer lid - super tough sculpted-molded body.
I have used this type of case for sensitive electronics many times
including flights all over Europe and the US - never a problem - the
cases cost about $20, and if for some reason your gear does not fit as
expected - you can return it locally. The 2 that I have here hold the
XL-7 perfectly - with about 3" on either side which I stuff with
modular blocks of 3" high quality rigid case-foam. I also put blocks
of the foam above and below the XL7, and there is room on the bottom
for wires, etc.

call any of the case companies - anvil etc - also dedicated foam
retailers sell all densities of foam product, and it is possible to
get anti-static foam as well

http://www.google.com

good luck!

They're not padded at all, not recomended for anything other than short
and safe trips IMO.
