The xl7 locked up on me recently... while saving a song, I waited and waited to see if it would unlock and continue on it's normal path. well it didn't so I turned it off while it was saving. Well when I went to turn it back on all of the songs that were on the xl7 the orignial dance song and my recently recorded songs were COMPLETELY ERASED.... SO MY QUESTION IS IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET BACK ANY OF THOSE SONGS THAT WERE ERASED?

well being new to the electronic world I didn't really know or expect that this kind of thing would happen and if it did it wouldn't be so severe but apparently i was wrong because all of the songs that i had on there were erased! so that is a complete turn off.... all of this power ... and no back up memory in the xl7 at all is just a real waist... so is there anyone that may JUST MAY have a solution? --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@p...> wrote: > I know how awful I would feel if that happened to me. Unfortunately, you're hosed. Nothing can be done. I really hate the way the XL-7 is overprotective about it's flash memory (i.e. if ANYTHING is messed up, it erases everything at reinitializes). E-loader is your friend; use it and it will save your hide. not unless you backed up to your computer .... It happened to mre too ... it SUCKS..... I am now in the habit of saving often to the computer..... I think a new OS function would be cool if you could get it to auto save to the computer every 15 minutes or so .... Speaking of which .... Is there still a chance of seeing a new OS

Speaking of lock-ups......I experience them with my XL-7 a lot more frequently than I would like. Just last night, I was flying through the Pattern Edit menu, and it just froze on me. Like rEalm said, it happens to me when I'm working really fast, flying through the Edit menus. The machine just locks up and I need to reboot it. It's a pain in the ass, but luckily, nothing bad has come of it yet (ie: losing patterns/songs/presets/etc.). The same thing used to happen to my MC- 505. I guess I should just slow the hell down. There's a known bug where viewing either of the list edit screens while in a recording mode (i.e. step, grid, realtime) can cause hangs. It was one of the things I tried to fix in 2.0, but it was tangly and required a re-write of the underlying data structures of the sequencer. I did the re-write, but it caused more problems than it solved, so I put it back. Moral of the story? Make sure to exit any recording mode before scrolling past the list editors. Just to clarify, the problems I experienced were not related to being in
Recording Mode, a bug I knew about at the time and was avoiding.
