You really should try and find a laptop without shared memory first of all. Most laptops will not let you specify how much memory to allocate to the video card, and it's not a question of the amount of RAM you have anyway. The problem, is that it chokes the CPU buss, so you can have a ton of avaiable memory and still have performance issues if you're using a laptop with shared graphics memory. Not all laptops have this, typically only the cheaper ones. If you want a computer to use at DJ gigs, I highly recommend a laptop for space saving reasons if nothing else. I've yet to be in a DJ booth that would actually have enough room for a rack mount PC and LCD screen. Where as a laptop you can place right on top of a standard turntable if need be (this is what I do BTW). rEalm Further i checked out some Notebooks. Seems like most of the manufacturers use shared VideoRAM lately and rEalm advised that they aint got at all for audio proposals. Lets say that the Notebook have 512 MB of RAM, if i dedicate 16 RAM to the VideoCard, is there still danger of Dropouts or whats the problem with shared RAM? I didnt want to replace my desktop PC, i like to use it for DJ proposals and some out of studio recordings. Yahoo!
