Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Just got an XL 7 and really need some basic help that I can't find in
the manual:

1) How do I insert a rest note in step time sequencing?

2) If I put together a sequence and I use a stock bass sound an then
decide that, say, the filter parameter needs to be changed for the
track that the bass sound is in, do I have to edit the original sound
or can it be done and saved as part of the sequence - ie I dont want
to edit the original sound, I just want to change its filter setting
in this sequence. Can I do this??

3) If I want to use a Audition riff, can I attach a MIDI lead from
MIDI out to MIDI in and then record it into a track and then edit it?

Any help would be appreciated!
