hehe none taken i kinda figured that if you went inthat menu alreasy then you already knew how to use a synth but i was out of ideas and wanted to make sure you knew what you were doing. as for what you want to do, i really havent taken wave samples and extended them in hardware before. but in wavelab i've taken an 808 drum and zoomed in on the waveform and set a loop point that would make it loop until i triggered a note off message. was talking to a buddy about the best way to acheive this with vocals yesterday and he said to try fading the same sample in and out. so maybe the best way to acheive that on the xl-7(or whatever command station) is to sequences a couple of kicks maybe 1/16 or 1/8 apart? hen use the envelope to fade it in or out? but if you have an xl-7 shouldnt you be able to program your own? i have an mp-7 i think i might be able to program one with it myself tho. i have a bad memory and tho i did read your message i'm now cfonvinced that you want to make a kick drum sustain. lol i will try to create my own and if it works i'll let you know. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "lifeistheformofenergy" <lifeistheformofenergy@y...> wrote: > > ok well first off I just want to say thanks - > I just want to > address this before I continue - I am seriously not trying to be rude > or anything like that when I say this please don't take it the wrong > way - but seriously I am not that much of a noob - I do know what the > envelopes and oscilators do and I know what the FX do - (I tried all > of those basic things first)which is why I came here with my > question - but I literally think that there has to be a way to take > even the smallest of a given rom sample (one lasting only two or > three 16th notes at most - which in my case happens to be the kick 2 > from the XL7 rom) and tweak it so that instead of its usuall basic > sample length of only one or two 16th notes - it could be played to > last even up to lets say 5 whole bars of 4/4 with the same velocity > going strong - I did check all the decay sustain release settings for > all the four layers - and that helped get some of the "sustain" type > of idea I had in mind - but only by a few extra beats (two or three > more 16th notes - which I was looking for a few extra whole bars ((16 > whole 16th notes))not just 16th notes) - I was thinking that this > could be done with some sort of sysEx programming or something else I > haven't tried - once again I really am eager to learn - maybe this > question is too technical or that I am asking it in the wrong way - I > hope not - I just want to take what I do know and broaden and expand > my awarenesses - please don't take it the wrong way because I do > appreciate the help - > > > > oooh ok. hmm might be the sample being played back?
