It appears that Edirol have completely given up on coax. All five
Edirol digital audio interfaces that are currently in production sport
optical S/PDIF only.

But I was hoping for a simpler, smaller, less hassle solution. The XL7
has a digital audio output (S/PDIF coax), and my iBook has a digital
input (USB and Firewire). The challenge: connect one to the other with
the least amount of hardware.
