I am nowhere as capable/experienced as others in this group but basically you need to get a 'midi-sport' box or (similar) and connect this box to the USB port on your computer....then get a midi lead and put one end in the 'out 1' on your midisport and connect the other to the 'in A' midi socket on the back of your CS.....Install the e-loader software and follow the instructions for 'uploading patches'....if you have any glitches getting the xl7/midi-sport/computer to communicate, these can often be overcome by restarting everything (can't remember if the order of start ups is important....but you can experiment....) A cheaper option for one way midi communication is a simple cheap USB to midi lead... (cheap as chips!!) One other thing is if you have problems getting your computer to recognise the new midi lead, simply right click on 'my computer' go to properties and let go....then click the 'hardware' tab and click on 'device manager'.....highlight 'USB controllers' by clicking on it once.....then go to the top and hover over the symbols....one will say 'scan for hardware changes' click on this......do this whenever you have problems with your midi set-up... Also....if you get a midi box that has two in/two out, you can download your song/patch files on to your computer for safe keeping.....you can also then import the patches into cubase for very eassy arranging of songs....As a guitarist that is a bit of slow when it comes to computers etc. I have learned the bare basics of cubase to allow me to programme my XL7....Its the best thing since they invented a machine that slices bread!! Good Luck Toe.. PS...if you go to emus website you can download preset patches for all the Command stations(MP7 PX7 etc......if you download them to your own XL7 they wont play straight away.....if you press the preset button it will give a message "no preset loaded".....simply move the cursor ,& spin the jog wheel to select one of your own user sounds or an XL7 preset sound....you can have some interesting fun using the downloaded patterns as sequence templates for your own sounds...... --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "martyj125" <martyj125@...> wrote: > > i screwed up and deleted all the factory presets and songs how do i put > them back from the e-loader disk ? it looks like all the files are on > the disk. what do i do to transfer them from my computer to the xl7 > please anybody? i just got this and i cant believe i did this. >
