Hello Not all synths & drum machines are of the same architecture....the XL7 is more like a synth/sequencer than a drum machine in some respects. Presets are not stored in the patterns as they are done, say in a Roland drum machine. Instead, they are stored in the multi setup. This is similar to a pure sequencer that does not store what sounds are used directly in the sequence. In short, the sound/preset used by the sequencer/pattern/song must be stored in the multi, located under the global menu. If you need to change the "arrangement" of sounds, then a new "arrangement" is needed and stored in a new multi....this is in the manual and I hope my explanation clarifies it a bit... This is driving me nuts! I have an xl 7 and have thrown midi drum loops into each of the first 4 empty pattern banks. I go to the first pattern and change the presets for each of the channels then save. I go to the second pattern and change the presets for each of the channels then save that pattern. When I go back to the first pattern the channel presets are still assigned to the presets that I saved for pattern 2. Is this machine incapable of saving presets assigned to channels for each pattern or what? Why are the presets set to the same thing regardless of pattern? What good are 1024 patterns if the sounds for all of them are the same 32 presets???? [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
