Thanks a lot.  I didn't see your patches but I did the CC data trick and
that worked great.  The trade-off is the track lights indicate that there's
data there, but that's life.

Have you ever had any luck reliably connecting Prodatum via the USB port or
do you edit your patches via the LCD?

In the Files section, I uploaded so sample pattern templates designed to
send midi data from a Command Station Sequencer to external gear. I took
them from files I had stores; so, if I have the correct ones, here's what
they do:

All Ext. mid
This one has dummy data (CC7 = 127) on all tracks to preserve the external
channel assignment. T01 is assigned to C01A ext, T01 is assigned to C02A
ext, . . . T16 is assigned to C16A ext.

External~ProtX~B.mid
Is similar to the one above, except each track is assigned to the
corresponding channel on port B--all ext. On the version in my P2500, it
looks like all CC7s are set to v=110, plus there seem to me some tracks
enabled and some altered knob data. I am not sure if the template I posted
has this data.

MultiB ext.midi
The version on my P2500 has T01 assigned to C01B ext. I am not sure if the
template I posted is the same or if it has T01 assigned to MultiB ext. Only
T01 has CC7 data.

Anyhow, this should give you an idea of various types of external channel
assignments you can do. I am not familiar with the Virus line, but if you
can set up voice one to receive data on midi channel 1 and voice to to
receive data on midi channel 2, you should be able to get you Command
Station to do it.

Assuming you are using Midi Port A for your external gear, try assigning
T01, T02, T03, and T04 all to Channel:01A ext and T05, T06, T07, and T08 to
Channel:02A ext. Of course, you need to have dummy data on those tracks (and
possibly channels) before you save the pattern, or the tracks will revert to
the default track settings. I add the dummy data using the EVENT pattern
editor--just hit repeat to insert an event.
