you can clean the contacts, and it is also possible to re-coat the contacts using several methods. it depends on the exact type of contact, too From: mailto:xl7@yahoogroups.com Sent: Monday, January 25, 2016 11:36 AM To: xl7@yahoogroups.com Subject: [xl7] Keypad - dead pad Hi all - first post. Few days ago I got a lovely xl7. Initially the first C pad (normally the kick) did not work at all. I did a full system reset and it started working again but after more messing in the settings, it stopped. I have done more resets but Im thinking this might have been a red herring and in fact, its just faulty. So, I took it apart and cleaned the contacts (see pictures in Files -> Keypad) but still no response. Interestingly, when I first turn it on, the C pad works once (I get sound and the Midi OUT LED flashes) but its then dead (no sound and the LED does not flash). Questions: 1) is it possible to disable a single pad with a setting somewhere in the OS? 2) if it is faulty, how does the contacts physically work? As you can see from my pictures, its not a standard mechanical switch but rather, the 4 black rubber dots press down on a PCB component that Im not familier with. Ultimately, is it possible to fix this contact? Huge thanks for any responses.. Paul
