Keypad - dead pad

Keypad - dead pad

2016-01-25 by forums@...

Hi all - first post.

Few days ago I got a lovely xl7. Initially the first C pad (normally the kick) did not work at all. I did a full system reset and it started working again but after more messing in the settings, it stopped.

I have done more resets but Im thinking this might have been a red herring and in fact, its just faulty.

So, I took it apart and cleaned the contacts (see pictures in Files -> Keypad) but still no response.

Interestingly, when I first turn it on, the C pad works once (I get sound and the Midi OUT LED flashes) but its then dead (no sound and the LED does not flash).

Questions:

1) is it possible to disable a single pad with a setting somewhere in the OS?

2) if it is faulty, how does the contacts physically work? As you can see from my pictures, its not a standard mechanical switch but rather, the 4 black rubber dots press down on a PCB component that Im not familier with. Ultimately, is it possible to fix this contact?

Huge thanks for any responses..

you can clean the contacts, and it is also possible to re-coat the contacts using several methods. it depends on the exact type of contact, too

Thanks Jon

So, are there any settings that could turn of my leftmost C pad for all presets? Its just very odd that it works the first time I hit it but not again until I reboot?
