Has anyone even HEARD this thing yet? Maybe it sounds like crap? Who knows? If you'd like to compare it to the DX7 'phenomanon' keep in mind that, although the dx7 can produce some interesting sounds, the entire concept was beaten to a bloody pulp for the next 10 years to come! I'm not knocking the Neuron, I'm just simply stating that you 'can't' honestly knock it until you've at least heard the thing. Although, for over $4g's, I think I'd be spending my money elsewhere first... -- Chaos exists as raw material from which to create order. -Reverend Mother Superior Darwi Odrade -----Original Message----- From: Nick Rothwell [mailto:nick@...] Sent: Thursday, July 18, 2002 5:08 AM To: xl7@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [xl7] is there a date for da new OS? > The neuron takes things to so much of a new level. Yeah; we've not seen that since the DX7, the D-50, the M-1, the Wavestation, the VL-1, the K2000, the Morpheus, the K5000S, the Nord Modular and the Oasys... > How does emu anser this call? E-mu have always been into sample libraries, and producing high-polyphony, high-quality sample player modules (but these days with good control systems, modulation and filters, which is the only reason I'm here). > If I were a synth manufacturer, i'd be freaking out, researching, > and reverse engineering like crazy! That's almost what happened in 1983, except that Yamaha were really keen on enforcing their FM patents; Roland side-stepped this and got into PCM samples and onboard effects (well, to be fair, Korg predated that in the DW's, but Roland made it kick ass); the rest is history. -- nick rothwell -- composition, systems, performance -- http://www.cassiel.com To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: xl7-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com Your use of Yahoo!
