Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

When I use the XL-7 to sequence a midi module. It seems like I have 
to select external in the "channel assignment " each time for each 
individual track. Is there a short cut or any advice to make it 
easier to using the XL-7 just as a sequencer for my external gear? I 
know that with the 1.31 operating system the unit reverts to 
internal on the midi channel assignment page. I just want it to stay 
external. Also I am open for any tips in this area of sequencing and 
any advice to making my life easier. I am still learning the unit.
