Yeah, when you get into longer Songs in Song Mode, it can crash when you
switch back and forth between Pattern and Song mode. If you have lot of
MIDI intensive songs, try switching between them even, you'll see a
message that says "Loading Data" or something and the sound stops. My
guess is that when you switch rapidly between modes, the XL-7 can't load
the Song Data fast enough. I don't think it's a heat issue though, the
power supply is pretty robust in these units.
The switch tracks in song mode, use the Edit button and Track setting
below the LED display. Oh wait, there's only one track in Song Mode, the
Song track. It's 16 channels on that track though, so it'll record all
your movements. Makes editing a bitch though....

I've actually been starting to play around with the song mode a bit the
past few days as well, and haven't had any problems switchning between
pattern and song while playing (at least not yet!)....and I assure you
there is some severe heat in my studio! I have been trying to figure out
how to switch tracks while in song mode though, mmmm.
The only crashes I have managed out of this thing so far (with 131) were
all midi feedback loops, before I realized my controller keyboard was
causing them!

I am starting to get in deep into this unit. But I fear that maybe the
bugs are going to limit my creativity. My MP-7 constantly locks up when
I'm creating a SONG and switching between song and PATTERN mode... I
always make sure that I stop the sequencer before I do this, but none the
less, Its a problem.
Yes, Realm, I know I should be constantly saving.... But sometimes i'm
just not in the mood :)
Has anyone experienced this crash? Even the BPM lights stop blinking...
It's a total buzz-kill!
