New idea?

2002-10-10 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

Hmm, had an interesting idea for a new EMu product that would compliment
the XX-7's nicely. What about a small dedicated sample playback unit for
use with the Command Stations (call it the SP12 or something) ? Say a
half rack size unit that has the very minimum of connectors. On the back,
MIDI IN and THRU, USB, power connector, and maybe 6 outputs. The front
would have MIDI indicators, a volume knob, and maybe a 2 line LCD for the
most basic of info. The top would have a small panel you could remove to
add more memory DIMM's.

It would be for use with a software interface in order to set up your
samples, do all your looping and keymapping etc. Basically, it would be a
really cheap, and portable sample playback unit. Similiar specs as say a
low end Emu rack sampler, but without the onboard control and expansion
options to lower the price. All you'd need to do is set up your samples
via spftware, then transfer them to the box for when you want to play out
live.

Yes, I'm daydreaming I know....
