Hello everyone!, I've been hanging around on this list for a couple of weeks now- I'm interested in getting an MP/XL-7- basically for the controllers and the grid programming feature- as imputting beats into Logic is so boring :( Whats the quantise like on the xl-7?- Is it as funky as the MPC's?- The xl-7 would also accompany my Emu E4 perfectly! In answer to the above question, I think the problem with USB lies with its limited bandwidth- The reason Nick (I presume that's your name?) is getting e-loader to work with his pismo is because he is using a decent MOTU powered usb interface-ie. an interface that isn't line powered from the powerbook itself. This is a problem I too have with programming my Yamaha AN1x via my Mac- my usb interface simply can't take it's high sysex (?) bandwidth (was midiman 2x2 midisport, now, Emagic mt4.) Also- I noticed a past thread about popping and clicking while using the arpeggio facility.- Although still having not played with an xl-7, I assume it's the same synth architecture as the E4- something I get pops and clicks with too!- Although Emu deny this and respond with the notion that they haven't a clue what I'm talking about, I think it's to do with the dsp upgrading all the time because these instruments don't have dynamic allocation of voices. It's a pig- and it was even worse with my older estranged e6400 (with its 64 voices as opposed to 128). The only way around it was to use less midi channels all going at the same time- ie to record the channels seperately- and while playing live, just put up with it :( Tom (UK) :-)
