Quite probably. I've used various self-powered interfaces and had
problems with them (the MidiMan ones in particular).

You presumably mean "do" rather than "don't". I've certainly noticed
that there are all sorts of voice-stealing artifacts in the XL-7
(especially for a 128-voice machine).
