Out of all my gear (Yamaha,Roland,Korg)this thing (my E Mu XL7) has got to be the hardest piece of gear to learn! I swear Ive had it almost a month and I still feel like Im just knob dicking around on it.Im reading the manual and its not helping at all. >>>Don't rush it, these things take time to learn. I always try and tell people who are having trouble learning a piece of equipment to not rush it and take a segmented approach. Try and learn and be confortable with various aspects of the unit one at a time. For instance, read the section on Pattern Editing, then use a factory Pattern to try out the various options one by one. One you feel comfortable with what those do, try tackling Preset Editing, or Song mode. I think it's important to have the manual right there with you though, so you can try out everything as you read about it. <<< I just want to do two main things: how do save all the voices (presets) for the whole machine I.E. to control from my external 16tk sequencer at a later date. >>>The simplest way would be to select all of the Presets you want for each track, and then save the Multisetup. When you want to work on that song, just reload that Multi. <<< And how do I turn off/or control the voice effects like reverb and echo? I see fx and decay but in these subscreens I dont see anything about reverb or echo effects.Only things like width and cutoff(?) >>>The FX are global and located in the Global Menu. You don't get seperate effects for each Preset. You can how ever set up the XL-7 to save the effects settings with each Preset if you wish, but this is ideal only if you are only playing 1 Preset at time. If you're doing sequencing, you probably would want to leave the effects as they as and make use of the sends. Lots of info on this in the FAQ I've written. Located here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xl7/files/ <<< Any help on this would be much appreciated!! >>>No problem, feel free to ask any question, but try and keep them as specific as possible to make it easier for us to provide answers. <<< rEalm [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
