sounddiver-like program for win xp?

Re: sounddiver-like program for win xp?

MIDI Quest list the P2000 and Orbit 2 as supported synths. I don't
know if this translates to the P2500 and command stations. You might
drop them an email. The web site is http://www.squest.com/ and I
think there is a demo.

It doesn't. Please email them, everyone, asking for this.

It's the only game in town.

I would love to see E-mu come out with an editor, or license an
editor. My Yamaha AN200 and DX200 came with editors. Roland also has
downloadable editors for the Fantom and XV line.

I'd prefer to see one company come out withg an editor for everything.

The Midiquest program isn't very good, but it's all there is right now :/

some good and some bad news (or is it gossip?)...

starting with the bad news... apparently midiquest stopped developing
for the proteus2500 because emu refused them the loan of a machine (i
got this from a guy on the SOSforum who has been in contact with
midiquest about this same issue)

the good news from someone at the same forum is more of a "between
the lines" kinda post ... i'll paste it for ye...

"Jan 2004, NAMM, Emu launch shitload of new products. Might be
interesting to hang on till then. "

the guy who posted this is a (former?) sounddesigner for emu.

So agreed.

That alone would so extend the power of these machines.

Sad that I can program my XL-1 that way, but not the
XL-7...a machine that, even with the additional front-
panel controls, is no joy to program from the front
panel.

Do the factory programmers who create patches for E-mu
products all work through the panel LCD? Hard to'
believe if true!

I tried to search via archive search engine and manually, but
couldn't find the Q & A. As I recall, the answer at the time was yes.

However, recently I saw a post somewhere that the E-Mu site had a
program that would allow you to send parameter data to the gear. If
this is true, I haven't found it. Does anybody have a link for such
a program?

Zukan is an ok guy but this wouldn't be the first time he's announced
new emu products that have not materialised...

Anyway, if he was in the know he would probably be under an NDA...

Hmmm... I don't know. But I'll take a stab.

Yes and no. I'm sure some of them have before. But I'm sure that not all of them do. It would make sense that some of them did though.

Also, while were on this topic.

Anyone know exactly what part Orbital played in this machine?

The XL-1 had a picture of Orbital playing live on the manual. One of the demo tracks sounded pretty Orbital-esq.

I'm guessing Aaron would know the scoop on that. That'd be cool if they designed some presets. Speaking of which, I read somewhere that one of the Hartnoll brothers is or was studying engineering to become a better producer.

I've seen some time ago ( orbit 3 forum ) that Rob Papen did his TSCY
ROM (and probably the Beat Garden ROM too...)working with soundiver..
He just had to put a flash ram filled with waveforms into a P2k
module, and edited his presets with the Emagic sofware....I suppose
the EMU sound designers must have used this kind of workaround too !

In the orbit 3 forum there's a new member named fzappa(!!?!)
he found PROTEUM a great program which seems to be compatible with
all EMU modules....By sysexes it will list all the stuff inside your
machine, including user's patches !!! I did not checked it out yet,
so I don't know what it really worth......
Here's the link :

Sure, and it works with my XL-1 also.

But it doesn't work with the XL-7, MP-7 or PX-7!!

Hanging onto my XL-1 as some kludge to allow for
remote editing was not what I had in mind! ;)
