I'm looking into Ableton Live as well.  I already have the "Delta 
Live" version that was bundled with my M-Audio Firewire 410, so I may 
as well play with it and see what potential is there.  I just 
realized that now that I'm enrolled at a local community college 
(several members of this orchestra enroll in the class every semester 
to it won't get cancelled), I can get an educational discount on the 
upgrade to the full version. :)

I'm going to see if I can use Live as a rudimentary multi-track 
recorder - I understand several folks are using the Arrangement View 
for this purpose.  If it works I can at least start posting my XL-7 
experiments.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
