I don't know if anyone on the board tried this yet, but I just mixed a 3/4 bass line with a 4/4 drum pattern using XMix. I started out in the 4/4 pattern and XMixed in the 3/4 pattern. The 3/4 pattern loops after 3 beats like it should! If you start out in the 3/4 pattern and XMix in a 4/4, then the 4/4 loops after the 1st 3 beats, so the last beat is cut off.
