command station simm sockets

command station simm sockets

2004-06-06 by gonzinigonz

Hi All
Just joined the list, thinking of buying an command station but i
have a few questions..
there are 4 simm sockets in the command station if im correct?
I gather that 3 of these cn5 / 6 / 7 are for the rom sound upgrades
and one should have the rom that comes with the unit (XL / MP)
What is simm in the last slot cn8 for? Is this for user sequnce /
program patch ram or used by the system?
Can you upgrade this for more storage?
Thanks
Gonz

CN8 Houses the rom that comes standard with the xX-7. The other 3
can be filled with different roms. ;)

L56 Out...

Arr ok, so you can basically have 4 sound expansion roms in there max?
What happens if you boot the machine up without any sound roms in
there? ie all 4 sockets are empty.
Thanks for the quick reply!!
Regards
Gonz

With all sockets empty, you have a command station with no sounds, no sequences, no Beats. All of that is stored in the ROM modules. The provide the machine "personality". I'm not sure what it will say when you boot but you can't really do anything with it....except maybe store midi based sequences if that.........
