Selecting ROMS in Cubase SX

Selecting ROMS in Cubase SX

2004-12-14 by theinvision

I use Cubase SX for sequencing with my XL-7, but I cannot select any
patches except the user patches from within Cubase. I can select from
bank 0 to bank 3, but I cannot select different roms unless I set the
bank to "off" and change which rom I want to use from the XL-7. Is
there an easier way?

I use cakewalk so this may not help you. When you select the preset on
the xl-7, press the audition button. On the display you will see MSB and
LSB numbers. This represents the rom and bank your preset is on. In
cakewalk you have to multiply MSB times 128. The result is the number
you insert into the sequence patch for rom and bank.

Thanks for your help. I set it up in the MIDI device manager. Now I
just have to type in all the preset names.

I doubt you're going to find that information here, you're going to have
to send the unit back to Emu for repairs in all likelyhood.

Re: Circuits

2004-12-23 by George Falconer

This is a coincidence. After having purchased my XL7 a year to the
day, it would not power up. Nothing.
The 5A fuse on the plug is okay, as is the internal fuse within
the "power cage" I know two "near simultaneous cases" are not exactly
an epidemic; but is this a common issue? I understand EMU covers
these units for two years in the UK, and I did send off my warranty
card last year. But having heard nothing back from them, it increases
my worry that they may not have recieved it. Its now sitting in Sound
Control in Glasgow, probably until the New Year before anyone even
looks at it. My whole setup depends on my XL7, so its a real bummer
for Xmas!!

Re: Circuits

2004-12-29 by George Falconer

Was confirmed by the service department in Sound Control (store where
I purchased it)that the power supply is indeed dead. They reckon they
will need to send it back to Emu, but I'm unsure where exactly that
is these days. I called Emu support, which is based in Ireland, but
they said they don't repair. (so its probably a call centre) I
thought they should just send the faulty p/s to Emu for confirmation
and replacement, but they reckon the whole unit will need to go
somewhere.

The "year to the day" power failure is a bit spooky - perhaps they
were all programmed this way! :)

Whilst I have every faith this will all come right (eventually) I am
a bit cheesed of that a few weeks after I purchased what I presumed
to be a great bit of gear with a marvellous future is now redundant
and doesn't really have anyone interested in it anymore. There's alot
to be said about sticking with Roland / Yamaha / Korg in this case.
