live recording abilities

2005-03-29 by marius4560

Hi. New member here :)

I was thinking of buying an emu xl7 for my live setup.
Is it possible to activate recording without stopping playback (like
on the korg emx)
or do you have to stop playback, press record, and then play (like the
yamaha rm1x) ?

That's just what i wanted to hear :) then it should be perfect in my
setup.
Is it possible to set it to auto-quantize while recording to, or
quantize without pressing stop?
And can it be used as a usb controller?
thanks
marius

i'm only practicing live recording and am more of a studio guy myself
so i dont use live recording much so i'm gonna have a look through the
manual thoguh i think i've read somewhere on this group that you can
use an auto quantise function while live recording.....

skimming through i didnt see anything about using quantze while
realtime recording is in play mode so i'll try myself... hm seems that
you canget to the quantise function when you press the record button
when it isnt in playmode there we go you can also set the quantise
value snap or whater you cal it while it's playing. yeah so far it
does what you want:)

btw you can further edit the quantisation in the pattern edit
menu(wich can be opened while the command station is playing) in the
quantisation menu wich has the quantise amount in percentage and it's
swing amount i'm guessing that that lets the quantisation maintain a
human feel?

i've been pretty interested in quantisation the past week after years
of ignoring it. so i;m a bit enthusiastic about it and thought i would
let you know lol. been talkin about it on other forums n stuff.

Yes & Yes. Also, metronome on/off.

No. Midi only.

Only uSB you can do is the Eloader, and even then you're limited to
uploading/downloading patterns. No OS updating, that's midi only.
Sooooo, I just go midi all the way. Ain't no big thing.
