if i was in grid mode could i use it to send on/off messages? to another step sequencer?

alas, no. would be cool though. there MIGHT be some way to get them to generate sysex if you enable front panel button emulation, but I don't think we updated that stuff when we went from the p2k to the xl7. if you're really adventurous, you could download the p2k sysex manual and try it, but I think it won't do it. alternatively, you could use "triggers" mode to send note events. they'll even latch with the LED on if you want... -Aaron --- malik <malik_martin@...> wrote: > > if i was in grid mode could i use it to send on/off messages? to > another step sequencer? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? A year or two ago I tried to master the E-Mu Remote Control Sysex (OS2.0/P2500). I do not have my notes at hand, but I seem to recall there were some gaps in front panel emulation. Without checking, I don't recall if the 16 trigger/mute buttons transmit and receive Remote Control Sysex. (I do recall some gaps with transport emulation.) Also, not all of the remote functionality is documented in the Proteus Family Sysex Manual. At the time I got the feeling remote control in OS2.0 was a work-in- progress, but now I get the feeling it may have been tranferred from the non-sequencer software. If it helps, I will try to dig out my notes. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Aaron Eppolito <synthesis77@y...> wrote: > alas, no. would be cool though. > > there MIGHT be some way to get them to generate sysex if you enable > front panel button emulation, but I don't think we updated that stuff

Just did a quick test: 1. Opened remote control 2. Pressed buttons 3. Monitored sysex sent from P2500 Results: Neither the transport nor the 16 trigger/mute buttons transmitted remote control sysex. F0 18 0F dd 55 40 10 F7 = open remote control F0 18 0F dd 55 40 11 F7 = close remote control where dd = sysex ID [MIDI menu system] Hope this helps. Footnote: On my P2500, if the master volume is < 100%, master volume data is sent nearly constantly when remote control is open. --Steve
