I have the PX7 with 3 roms: Beat Garden, Drum, and Pure Phatt.....what's this type of combo going for nowadays? Anyway, I just been contemplating putting it on Ebay or something....looking to upgrade(though I really enjoy the sequencing). Bomb --------------------------------- Check out the all-new Yahoo! I have not kept track of e-mu on e-bay for a few months; you can do that. However, I can share some bit of history. During the early summer, a couple of people (mainly one in the US and another outside) started cornering the market on E-Mu ROMs and P2K hased gear. The one 1n the states paid more than what the going rate had been up until he started corniering the market. Obviously, he relisted the items for more than he paid for--a nice markup for his efforts. The net effect was to bump up the price for all roms and e-mus with roms. I assume he is still in the business; you can check that out if you search "E-Mu ROM" on e-bay. His strategies included contacting sellers and having them end their auction early. (One person who ended an auction early, I believe, even gave him feedback saying he was the nicest e-bayer he ever met--or something like that.) So, if he is still in business be very careful about having a low Buy-It-Now price (or whatever they are now calling it now). Otherwise you might sell it to someone who only wants it so he can jack up the price and resell it. Personally, I'd rather see a member here sell it for more and another member buy it for less. By cutting out the middleman, it can be a win-win deal for members here. To arrive at a fair price (not an inflated one), I recommend looking at the buy/sell figures on e-bay and split the mark-up down the middle. Of course, if no members are interested, I'd be happy to get back into the e-mu e-bay research and suggest a BIN price that will probably keep the middleman from scooping it. Why am I willing to do this? Because I needed to replace a ROM that went bad and became disgsted by the middleman's selfishness by attempting to corner the market. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Herschel Newman <bombnem@...> wrote: > > I have the PX7 with 3 roms: Beat Garden, Drum, and Pure Phatt.....what's this type > of combo going for nowadays? I like the idea of anyone considering selling ROM's or complete comand stations posting the idea to the group first. I've been considering picking a new one up lately and just thought that no one here really sells what they have but would love to hear about these things first. Keep it in the comunity. Things could still be done through paypal ect., and if there was no great interest here it could always be posted to ebay after. Anyway, I'm not personally in the market this exact moment ( but the right irresistable piece of equiptment is always right around the corner ) so I'd love it if anyone considering selling let's the group know. Good speculation for him....eventually as demand drops, prices will drop again. Until then, who in there right mind would sell a ROM for much much less than the current going price unless he was a philanthropist ? Trading ROMs of similar value might be a better choice as some of us might be tired of the existing sample set or had a change in music direction. With that I recommend a swap database so we can see who wants what and what they have to trade for it.......... I about 10 ROMs and don't consider that cornering.....I bought them when I needed them and paid the best price I could at the time so I could use them......and at the moment don't have intentions on trading or selling..... I don't consider your buying 10 ROMs for your own use attempting to coner the market--even if somewhere down the road you will be selling (or swapping) them. If I had ROMs to sell, I'd rather sell one here for $242.50 to a member who will use the ROM to make music than to sell it to Mr. Markup for $200 only to turn around and list it for $285. A few months ago I believe there was a member who sold Mr. Markup either a ROM or gear with ROM(s) for less than what Mr. Markup sells them for. I would rather see someone I sorta know from the list have gotten more money and someone get it who would be making music--not reselling. The idea of a swap database seems to be a good one. I am not sure, though, how to protect swappers in the exchange. Let's see if we can develop this idea further. Thanks for the suggestion. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "Bob S." <tttsystems@...> wrote: > > Good speculation for him....eventually as demand drops, prices will drop again. Maybe using a trusted third party (like a trusted member, maybe one in the eastern & one in the western hemisphere or an escrow service) for the trade.....the traders would send the ROM to the third party, when both parts of the trade are received the item is verified and the third part forwards the goods to the respective destinations.......just a thought..... Sooo....fellas, you guys seem to have lots of knowledge buying/selling this stuff. How much
should I list my setup for? I would definitely sell to someone from the user group first, then if no success I would list it on Ebay. WHat do you think??
PX7 + Drum, Garden, and Phatt Roms....
