Someone must be gaining somwhere from all this stuff, cant think who
though..
I go out and earn it, £'s that is..
Its getting harder to filter out this spam.
Im getting one particular mail from differant email address and the
message is a jpg in the message body.
Also they have a load of random text in the message body as well..

It is pretty irritating..

the ones that get me though are the ones with no actual selling
content. just random words etc..

I've run the Electribe groups on yahoo for the past 9 years-

The only way to keep them spam-free is to turn on the "moderate posts
from new users" option-

When someone joins, I have to approve the first couple messages they
send.

Just a thought, for whoever the moderator/owner is here :)

They're long gone. I've tried sending email directly to them, but to no avail. We've contacted yahoo about adding a new moderator and they say they won't do that. They suggested starting a new yahoo group. Lame, huh? Maybe I'll ask around and see if I can get an inside source...

Mmm.

Is spam a huge problem? I haven't noticed a whole heap.. thought that
may be because my GMail filter is pretty good..

if it is a huge problem, we could always move to a google-group :p

Happily, spam has not been that much of a problem. However, responses
to spam are another story. In the case of this one little item, my
guess is that the replies have generated 50 - 100 times* the amount
of text of the original post (including all the appended comments
upon comments).

*just an estimate

Usually people just ignore spam, but perhaps the lure of making $100
in a day invites comments.

Hmmmmmm. I just realized something ironic: after work today (where I
make about $70.00 before taxes), I did a day trade which netted me
$127.26 in profits.

And, no, I didn't get the idea from any spam links. I think its a
waste of everyone's time even talking about it--unless its really
funny. Somewhere in the archives there are some threads in reply to
spam that were outrageously funny IMO. I think one thread started
with spam about "improving your performance" to which a whole bunch
of comments related it to the Command Station.

Sadly, I don't this this little item generated much humor.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
