new to midi. How to send program changes to external midi device?

2006-12-04 by lfobiamusic

Hi all,

I have a xl-7 and recently bought an boss sp 505 sampler.
At the moment I'm having trouble sending program changes
to the sampler, trouble, because I don't know how to do
this and I can't find it in the manual either!

I've read posts in the group that you have to make a program
change within a sequence, in the pattern event menu,
but I can't find such a function there.

I know it can be done, can someone help me out on this one?

Cheers,

Danny

Ok, Pattern Edit > scroll to EVENT editor.
Cursor down to the bottom left, set midi channel for program change.
Cursor next block right.
Use the data wheel to select prog. cursor right to select program No
with data wheel.
Then next blocks set the bank No. so you can access programs above 127.
and in differant banks.
MSB (most significant bit)CC:0 LSB (least significant bit)CC:32
A bit confusing maybe, have a look for bank select messages in the
manual. (download the PX-7 PDF if your on firmware V2.0)

Also check enable program receive in your SP505 if its an option.
Dont forget to set up the XL track parameters to it sends the message
where you want it to go.

Cool! have a good read of the manual. The PX-7 one as its got all the
updated revisions so its easier to get your head around.
Its a pretty easy box to get around on, just theres quite a lot of
stuff hiding in all those menus..

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
