i'm thinking of using my xl7 just to sequence my sampler on 32 channels is this easy enough? i guess it's just a matter of buying a lot of sample cds and stocking up my samplers hard drive just an idea a good one? -semj_1

The XL7 rompler is among the most powerful around, but for me it's almost too powerful- 10 different filters and 4 layers with all those mod capabilities just make my head hurt- i usually end up hitting "random" over and over and just listen to what comes out when I use it for its sounds. 2) FX: the outboard sampler and synths run back in to the XL7 and hit the FX (these are old synths with no fx) so I can smack em with distortion and reverb. So yeah- as a hardware sequencer, in my opinion it's pretty untouchable.

You know- I might be confused- I can't remember now if the subout returns hit pre or post FX- I've been moving things around, and will report back when I hook everything back up- -SS

I'm fairly sure that the send-returns are post-FX. So you can't use the command station effects on external synths. Otherwise you'd be able to get the external inputs on the digital out, which would be rad.

Yeah, the send/return jacks are inserted after everything. As such they're completely dry. They're simply analog summing conveniences. -Aaron >> 2) FX: the outboard sampler and synths run back in to the XL7 >> and hit the FX (these are old synths with no fx) so I can smack >> em with distortion and reverb. > > You can use the Internal fx on the Command station on other gear?
