what's the correct checksum when loading OS2.00?

is there a way to set "mute hold" as the default behavior? that's how the 
MMT8 did it, and i'm partial towards it.

is there any kind of "undo" function?

when editing shuffle/groove/transpose/etc is there a way to limit the edit 
to only a certain MIDI channel, range of bars and/or midi channel? the 
MC50 allowed all of the edit functions to selectively act on ranges of 
notes, midi channels, bars and of course tracks. i'm guessing the only way 
to do it in a **-7 is to explode the clipboard to tracks in an unused 
pattern, make the edits, and then copy back...?

in "pattern edit -> note edit", is there a way to stop/pause the 
sequencer, scan through the note events, and hear them as they're 
displayed? again, the MC50 did this. for "off-line" editing it's a great 
way to find which note needs to be edited.

this machine appears to be full of blank patterns, but when i save a 
pattern it tells me that only 78% of the memory is free (22% in use). if i 
*really* blank all of the patterns should i see 99-100% free memory? 
what's the best way to do that?

more noob questions as i read through the manual...

now that i've had a few hours of hands-on with an XL7 i'm highly confident 
that i'll unload my MMT8, but not sure yet about my MC50...

Nope, unfortunately.  You *can* save while playing (making saving often easy) and then there's a "revert" function which will take you back to your last save.  If you get in the habit of saving before doing something that you might want to undo, it's not horrible.  (still not good though)

Not really.  Your suggestion of exploding tracks is probably the best way.  That said, maybe you could try doing more single channel tracks.  The box was really designed to have track == channel for the most part.  That was the 90% use case.  The extra 10% who wanted to do multichannel tracks were not the target audience, though it's in there to at least make it possible.  In general, you'll find most of the design targeted at the single channel per track workflow.  The vol/pan knobs (and their LEDs) are probably the biggest example of that...

Well, if you *really* want to blank the unit, you can reinit in the diagnostics.  There's two options, one that erases everything except the patterns and songs (this includes all presets, global settings, everything, etc) and a second that deletes all the songs and patterns too.  Note that the "factory patterns" really aren't, they're just like any others - if you erase them, they're gone.
