It sounds very much like one of the drum pads' sensors is triggering when it shouldn't be. I haven't personally checked the Emu's pad sensors but I'm guessing they will be conductive rubber on the underside of the drum pads, that will contact against the circuit board underneath. I'm pretty sure that the pad sensor circuit board is separate from the others and can be removed.
Take out that board and clean all the contacts thoroughly, both on the pad-side and circuit board side with cotton bud + isopropyl alcohol (or similar alcohol - don't use acetone whatever you do) this should help.
One other possible thing to check for - when you put the sensor board back, don't excessively tighten the screws that hold the board in place, as this can cause the board to sit too close to the sensors behind it and cause phantom triggering of pads. If this is still happening when you reassemble, use thin plastic washers to increase the space between the sensor board and its mounting.
