Onboard pattern and user preset ROM?

Onboard pattern and user preset ROM?

2015-12-30 by brian.grassfield@...

Hello to everyone! I know that my xl7 uses a flash ROM to store pattern and user preset data, and it's sectors can written on finite occurences. So my question is, how much time could be the average lifetime when this component becomes unusable? And how can it be replaced after that? Is there a diagnostic function somewhere in the box to get information about the actual status?
Thanks for any answer!

Greets,
Barnabas

the flash ROM on the XL7 is an older type of single level cell flash memory, so you’re looking at tens of thousands of writes for each cell. I doubt that it has write balancing, though.

I had one go bad and eprelectronics had to replace the main board :/ although they gave me a core charge for the old one so I saved some money that way.
