program change question !

program change question !

2002-04-22 by adamhertzano

Hi

for some reason i am not able to switch patterns on my Quasimidi
Ravolution 309 from the command station.
The rest of my gear receives the program change messeges correctly.
I seem to have set the correct routing for the "309" (which
Corresponds to MIDI channels 1-5)and the track that contains the
messege is lit.
! - The Ravolution i= also set to receive program Change
 - (RXProg - ON)

Apreciate if anyone could who own a ravolution 309
( along with an XX-7) could check it out and let me know whats
shaking between these /boxes...

Make sure the XL-7 track is set to "ext" and not "both". When a track is set
to "both", it filters out program change events from the MIDI output.

If your command station is set up to transmit on that channel as Ext or Both and
it still doesn't work:

After setting up instrument definitions on Sonar, their documentation points out
there are at least three different ways program changes are transmitted by
different manufacturers, and some types are incompatable. If you have a program
like Midi Hack you can see exactly what comes accross. First try looking at
Midi Hack (Or some other midi trace program) with the Emu, then try hooking up
the Quasimidi and changing programs, you will probably see they are different.
You might be able to send a midi file with the right kind of program change in
it to the XX-7 if you can get an external sequencer to change programs on your
Quasimidi.

The 309 does not have that ability, nor does the sirius, or polymorph. I have all three, its not the comand stations fault, quasi just didnt find it essential enough to put that in their op sys. I think it sucks, but what can you do.
If your not living on the edge, your taking up to much room.
