Hello! I'm trying to use the xl7 as an on-the-go composition tool. It seems that I'll compose something and save it and when I go on to record another song, all of the sounds from the new song have also been changed on the first song. Get all that? How do I set up the unit so that each song has independently assigned sounds? I'm finding the manual to be of little help. Thanks!

This is something that I've been suggesting since the ORBIT came out. .. EMU!!! FIX THIS. I'm sick of erasing my presets from one track to another. Make a way you can protect presets in one pattern from being modified. PLEASE What I do to get around it is change the cattagory to the last 3 characters so I know the preset is used (<<<:[preset name]) ez ----- Original Message -----

I think you are talking about a different problem. In his case he is saying that the sound assignments in hus old songs are being changed when he selects what sounds he wants for his new song. In your case it sounds like you are editing a preset and saving at the same location as a version you used on another song. Simply save it in a different location in the user banks. So if you have "string1" at location 127(1) used in one song and then use that sound again in asnother song and edit it you need to save it somewhere else other than 127(1). If it what jesse said the preset sound programing is changing, do as he suggested, but if the sounds themselves or being replaced by the newly selected presets, what I do is save a multi named the same as the the pattern so that I can always return to the initial presets as well as the mix.Think of it as a snapshot for pattern as well as song mode.
