Hello everybody , does anyone know by any chance how to controll aTX802 or a DX7 with our Emu-box ? I know how to use the quick edit and programs controllers but I've only managed to control theTX's portamento, mod. and sustain switch which is not very much if one wants to change the sound drastically !(doesn't seem to respond to usuall midi control change like brightness etc..there must be a way..? )Thanks !

I don't recall for sure, but I THINK that nothing else was controllable at all (it's all sysex). Maybe the data slider is though, I haven't owned a DX in a while. Try CC# 6 out, that may be it. Maybe the breath control is to, I cant recall. I DO remeber that the only way to change OP routing number was by using the data slider in realtime, unless you have a pc1600 of course. Thanks for your answer ; you're right, everything else must be sent by syssex and not cc's as I've already tried with a Kenton Control Freak I know it's possible ,just want to know what are those sysex messages and if it's possible to send it from theXl7... --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "ByronIV" <byron@l...> wrote: > I don't recall for sure, but I THINK that nothing else was controllable at > all (it's all sysex). I don't personally know much of anything about sysex string messageing, beyond the concept and basic syntax of it. But I do know that the xl7 can't control it. I had originally but that on my personal request list for the OS upgrade, however I really would doubt that it was implemented into it. Its been a *long* time since I plumbed its depths but I recall that it has ModWheel (CC01), BreathControl (CC02), FootControl (CC04) and volume (CC07) and aftertouch. These can be configured within each patch to control important facets of the sound, which (with some knowledge of FM programming) give you a similar result to filter cutoff or envelop amount. So the prospects are not as wide open as say a typical new synth but there are some good things you can do. One obscure note, one of the controllers the DX responds to is CC06, data entry slider. if you select a parameter in the DX(TX) and then send this message from say the XX-7 you can control a single parameter of your choice in real-time. This can be used as a work-around in some instances. drk www.delora.com/music www.mp3.com/zdrk drk.iuma.com
