is it possable to send play/stop messages to an external sequencer with
having to stop the xl7? can i just record a trigger that set off external gear, and
stops it? i have downloaded the manual, i cannot find anything that talks
specificly about play stop messages. does anyone know where to look?

thanx

What are you trying to do specifically, maybe we can come up with a
workaround.

Hi,

I´m not sure, but I think there´s no way, cause that´s kind of specific way
of Sysex, why not stop
external sequencer on his Play/stop Buttons, hmmm...

The XL-7 responds to Song Start (MIDI message 0xFA), Continue (0xFB),
and Stop (0xFC). I'm not sure of any sequencer that will actually let
you sequence these events though. Most often, they want to send it
themselves when you press play or stop (like the XL-7 does).

Hmmm. I just reread your post and it says you want to send start/stop
FROM your XL-7, not TO your XL-7. Sorry, the XL-7 only transmits these
messages when you hit the transport buttons.

For a live set a common tactic is to get a DJ mixer with 3 or more channels,
that way you can leave the other euipment running and fade them in when you need
to as opposed to starting and stopping all your gear.

Just a thought,
Andre

Why not just use the volumes knobs on the gear itself then? Save yourself
the cost of another Dj mixer...
