Next question - "sticky" notes.

Next question - "sticky" notes.

2003-05-26 by Jacob Talkington

Since last night I've repeatedly run into an annoying issue where
one note sticks on until a seemingly random point. Has anyone else
come across this or know a fix for it? It appears to happen most in
Realtime recorded patterns with synths of any sort, and its even
more likely to happen after I've messed with transposing the pattern
in pattern edit mode, even if I don't save the changes.

  Thanks in advance,

/.jacob

Found something else that makes it happen pretty often - when
playing sounds via the rubber keyboads, hitting a second note while
I'm already holding one sometimes makes one of them 'stick'.

   Still baffled.

Two problems here that I have also experienced. One is the note
sticking when you don't it hard enough or maybe hit two notes too
quickly together. Quite frustrating and I don't know if E-mu has
addressed it.

The other happens when a note doesn't cut off at the end of a pattern
(or it's something like that). This one has been addressed and isn't
supposed to happen anymore in version 2.0. You can see this problem
in the bugs fixed list for v2.0 software.

I'm hoping that they do fix the problem where the note off event
doens't seem to trigger when the pad is hit too softly or twice too
fast. If it has been fixed or if something is being done about it
it'd be great to know.

I did some looking around and it has to do with realtime recording
mixed with quantizing. It's quite annoying, since I like using the
quantize feature to improve the accuracy of my keystrokes, and would
like to see it addressed in the future. It's actually the only
annoyance I've found so far with this wonderful machine :)

Press MIDI + ENTER at the same time to unstick notes. Make sure you're
using the latest OS too.
