tsotha if you want. Anyway the good news is, thats exactly how mine 
was acting. It did seem that with use, the problem got better. But in
the end I replaced the chips and all is good now. Try swaping chips 
with the good encoaders to prove it. If your not a bit head like me, I
can walk you through it.
