removing knobs

2012-02-19 by Omar

I need to underneath the faceplate of my Xpander to service a couple buttons and do some cleanup. But I cannot for the life of me get the damn knobs off. It's requiring waaaay too much pressure and I'm afraid I'll damage them.

is there some specific method for getting these damn things off?

HI yes you have to pop the top off the knobs and then unscrew the collar inside the knob shaft to loosen them.. cya analog-jeff

You cant just pull them off cause they have a cap that you have to remove first (with a small knife etc)
Under the cap there is a screw or nut (I don't remember)

I always wondered why they went back to collet knobs after switching to push on types with the OB-Xa and OB-8... Actually my late model OB-X has push ons too.
