i looked on the jensen site to see what the specks on that model are:

it looks to be a step down to mic level for D.I. on stage or something.
for a mic pre it is!

as to line ( non mic ) applications some; people put line transformers inside on TX816's to make the outputs sound 'better' ( less 'dirty' and non linear in sound )...
transformers are rad!

Try both !
If the signal is way hot on the Mic input, use the
PAD ( if available ) or connect to Line input.
