VFD poll on Matrixsynth

VFD poll on Matrixsynth

2008-08-06 by A

1) Matrixsynth put up two polls on his site to help us out and
mentioned this group and the poll envia94 started re:VFD's

2) if you are interested in the possibility (only a possibility, as of
right now) of buying new VFD's for your Oberheim M-12 or Xpander,
please take the poll in the 'poll' section here so we can keep a
running tally, as well

3)thanks to moderator envia94 and Matrix for the help

Hi, - great !

I´ve found this group today and joined ´cause I´m using a US Xpander model professionally since end of the 80th after I sold my OB-8, toured w/ it over germany/europe, UK and Tunisia,
- never had a fault w/ the exception of only one failing CEM3372 which was relatively easy to replace.
As the 1st owner, for me, this synth is a very reliable machine.
I´m looking for spare part displays as also CEM 3374 since 2 years and I´m interested in rotary encoders (originals or a replacement solution) too ...
My Xpander works and the displays are o.k. up to now, but 2 of the rotarys become a bit weak now.
So, if anyone knows about replacements, please let me know.

I voted for 3 displays already ...

Let´s hope for the best and greetz to all the members here in the group.

:-)

Thx Tony,- they must have sold a lot cause they are on vacation... ;-))))
I doubt they have/had CEM3374,- these "beetles" seem to be absolutely
unavailable as are the rotarys.
I have a lot of hardware synths, romplers, samplers and found almost
every part I needed @ chip for brains, Hong Kong, technology transplant
or vintage planet (they have a waitlist ...),- but the displays and the
rotarys drive me nuts although I never had a blown display or oscillator
up to now. But I fear the day it will happen.

But the rotarys, - I have 2 pieces as replacements, used ones pulled
from another machine, but these behave similar compared to mine at fast
movements :-(

Ill try to place a request at Syncom next days ...
